Contest Rules and Regulations 1. NO professionals. Persons who entertain are allowed to compete as long as it is part-time income and that person does not belong to a professional organization connected with the entertainment industry. 2. Solo performances only. 3. Must perform with karaoke-style disc only. You can bring your own. 4. If your song has already been performed, you may choose a new song or sing the same song. 5. If there is a disc problem, we will clean it once. If there is still a problem, you may choose a new song and perform after the next contestant. 6. Contestants may not use live props (i.e. backup singers or dancers) Non-human props such as costumes & other accessories are permitted. 7. Musical instruments that may be carried by contestant may be used as props only, & are not allowed to be used as accompaniment to performance. 8. Contestants are not permitted to leave the stage or stage area during performance. 9. Songs containing vulgar or sexually explicit lyrics will not be permitted. 10. Contestants who use vulgar or sexually explicit lyrics during performance, or perform in an obscene manner will be disqualified from the competition. 11. In the event of a 1st place tie, each contestant must sing another song different from the first song they performed. 12. The order in which each contestant competes will be determined by random drawing. 13. Contestants will be scored on a 50 point system. Vocal ability (rhythm, pitch, and phrasing) 1 to 30 points. Stage presence (movement, confidence, and command) 1 to 10 points. Appearance (costume or attire) 1 to 10 points. 14. Decisions of the judges are final. No arguing allowed. 15. Any contestant, contestant family member, or associate who argues with the judges may be deemed to be using offensive behavior and may be disqualified from the competition. 16. No employees of Roadhouse Karaoke and D.J., Tunes and Trends magazine, or Single Source News are allowed to participate in the contest. 17. Time limit for songs is 4 minutes or less. |
